From Fibre to Fashion

From Fibre to Fashion
This one hour presentation will review the process of growing and harvesting a variety of natural fibres and the steps that are taken to produce a finished textile product.
We aim to present the big picture of textiles, explaining some of the steps that might be new or mysterious.
We will display a range of natural fibres, both plant and animal. Stages of processing will be shown using samples demonstrating the steps from harvest to completed garments. We will review items including knitted, crocheted, felted, and woven pieces. Varieties of yarns made using different methods at different mills will be shown with lots of touch and feel elements incorporated into the experience.

This free talk will be held on Saturday Oct 24th from 2;30PM to 3:30pm in classroom A
